"I moved to Mistley in 1957 with my family and my father was the local policeman for many years until his retirement. Although I am of retirement age now, I have decided to carry on, albeit on reduced hours, the job I have always loved as a community care worker locally. Mistley is very special to me and I have watched it change enormously over the years but I will always have the best interest of Mistley and its residents at heart and wish to try and make Mistley continue to be a lovely safe happy place for future generations to enjoy."

"I am retired from my role as an Area Sales Manager in medical sales and want to put something back into the community I have retired to. My career background is in medical sales to hospitals dealing with consultants, management and other medical professionals. I am an active member of the local Rotary club and the sailing club. My greatest claim to fame is organising and working on the clearing of the path along the Walls. I am the communities’ officer for Rotary. I enjoy history, sport (watching nowadays), and walking."

"We moved to Mistley in 1979 and since retiring from a Social Work & Management career with Essex County Council, I have pursued interests in archaeology and local history, working as part of Manningtree Museum, writing a number of booklets and giving tours and talks. I am a trustee and treasurer of both a local children’s charity and Mistley Village Hall.

My aim on the council is to see the creation of a Neighbourhood plan, working with other parishes in order to take more control of local housing development, ensuring we have a variety of homes to meet local needs and create good supportive communities with all the facilities needed."

Member of the Planning Committee. Representative of the Tendring District Association of Local Councils (TDALC).

I have lived in Mistley since 2021 having moved from Romford and it has been the best decision our family made.
I am a Chartered Management Accountant, currently working as a Commercial Finance Manager for a Ladies fashion retailer in London. I have been a Justice of the Peace since 2011, currently sitting at Ipswich Magistrates Court and have previously been a Chair for an Alternative Education Charity in Romford. I have always been keen to support young people to realise their potential and look to support the community to enjoy this very unique Parish.

"I have lived in Mistley for nearly 46 years,  having played football for Mistley United F.C. and cricket for Mistley Cricket Club, and am now a social member of the Rugby Club. My working life has been spent in coal fired and Nuclear power stations, generating electricity for the National Grid. When the Covid restrictions were lifted in early 2022, I joined the team of the Manningtree Community Bus as a Driver, which brings me into contact with the residents of Lawford and Manningtree and increases my contact with the friendly faces in Mistley. With the Parish Council, I would try to maintain Mistley as the very pleasant place for us to live now, and for generations in the future."

After leaving the Military I moved about in certain jobs until I started working in the aviation industry in 1993 as a baggage handler and worked my way through the ranks to an operations manager in several airports in the UK setting systems up and, in some cases, seeing over the whole operation. Unfortunately, due to 9/11, the aviation industry took a big hit, and I was made redundant whilst working at Newcastle International Airport.

On retirement through ill health my wife and I settled in Clacton-on-Sea and joined the local branch of the Royal British Legion and through my military service I took on the roll as Assistant Parade Marshall, working voluntary as a County Case Worker and stepping up to County training Officer followed by County Parade Marshal.  After moving to Mistley in 2013 I was one of the Co-Founders setting up the Manningtree & District RBL which was run until covid and was closed due to lack of numbers attending, we have now set up the North Essex Veterans Support Group (NEVSG) which was founded in 2021 and has grown from strength to strength, where we have had over 80 members regularly attending our breakfast group.   We assist in helping veterans in times of need. The group has outgrown our first venue the Crown in Manningtree, and we have now moved to the Brantham Leisure Centre for our breakfasts and events”.

On leaving the Armed Forces I studied and qualified as a Youth and Community worker while working for the National Association of Boys Clubs.  I took over my own Youth and Community centre that was in a very poor part of North Tyneside. This being the case, the whole community got involved in helping me bring the centre back to a stage where it was suitable for all the activities we had to offer, which was everything from a Baby Clinic to Pensioners Lunches with its key focus as a Youth Centre on evenings and weekends.

Leaving my post in 1989 to emigrate to Australia, I found my qualifications worthless and found myself in the corporate world working as a Customer Relations Manager for Thorn EMI. I joined Essex County Newspapers and stayed with them for quite a few years until I left to train as a nurse.

I stayed in nursing for quite a while but did not like the fact I was doing more paperwork than caring and that politics had set into an environment which it should never have. So, from there I became a full-time professional singer performing in pubs, clubs, holiday parks, golf clubs, the list is endless. During my latter years as a singer, we became volunteers for the RBL as case workers, learning all there was to know about doing reports and applications for assistance. So here we are today a very happy wife, Mam and Nanna and Co-Founder of NEVSG.

"I have lived in Mistley since 1966. I have worked for the Parish Council as Warden for over 15 years and took on the cleaning role more recently. My late mother, Aggie Forrester, was a Parish Councillor for 27 years and a great inspiration to me. I am passionate about the village and my aspiration is to continue to keep Mistley as a wonderful place to live for the benefit of all."
